Practical Knowledge
Tips, patterns, and hard-won lessons from developers who work with Umbraco every day.
Monthly Community · Kent, UK
The Umbraco Kent Meetup brings together Umbracians new and old, in and around Kent. We meet to share knowledge, swap ideas, and build community through talks, discussions, and informal catch-ups.
We meet on the third Monday of every month, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, alternating between hybrid evenings at Dragon Coworking in Rochester and fully online evenings - so whether you're local to Kent or joining from further afield, there's always a way to take part.
Tips, patterns, and hard-won lessons from developers who work with Umbraco every day.
Tackle real problems together and help other members of the community, from beginners to more experienced Umbraco users.
Everyone is welcome, whether you're a novice or an expert - there's always someone to talk to and something to learn.
Ask a question, share what you've learnt, and get help and advice from fellow members of the Umbraco community.
First Time at a Meetup?
Turning up to a new community event can feel daunting. Here's everything you might be wondering before your first Umbraco Kent Meetup - and why you're more welcome than you think.
Not at all. We welcome Umbracians new and old - whether you've just run your first install or you've been shipping Umbraco sites since the early days. Every meetup has people at different stages, and the best conversations usually happen between experienced developers and curious newcomers.
A typical evening runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We open with a short welcome, then two talks of around 30 minutes each, followed by questions, informal chats, and usually something to eat and drink. Every in-person meetup is also hybrid so members further afield can join online too.
Online evenings follow the same format as our in-person evenings - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the third Monday of the month. The joining link is shared on the Meetup group a day or so before we start.
Yes, every meetup is free to attend, thanks to our sponsors and Dragon Coworking hosting us. Just bring yourself and anything you'd like to take notes on. Food and drinks are usually provided at in-person evenings.
Most people arrive on their own. The organisers (Mike, Justin, Laura, and Josh) make a point of saying hello to new faces and introducing you around. If you'd prefer to just listen on your first visit, that's completely fine too.
Dragon Coworking is at 7-8 New Road Avenue, Rochester, ME4 6BB - a short walk from both Rochester and Chatham train stations (Southeastern services from London Victoria, St Pancras, and Charing Cross).
Free on-site parking is available via Gundulph Road, Rochester, ME4 4ED, then use the steps between the buildings to reach the entrance. If the car park is full, on-road parking is available nearby - please check the restrictions.
Please note: Do not bring bananas, nuts or pineapple into the coworking space as there are members with allergies.
Yes. We want every meetup to be welcoming and safe for everyone. Please take a moment to read our Code of Conduct before your first visit - it's short and we take it seriously.
Unicorns and rabbits are long-running mascots at Umbraco HQ - a nod to the playful side of the community. Our logo is a twist on the Kent white horse, of course!
We meet on the third Monday of the month, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Months alternate between hybrid evenings at Dragon Coworking in Rochester and online evenings you can join from anywhere. We don't meet in June - that's when much of the community heads to Codegarden, the annual Umbraco conference in Denmark. RSVP on Meetup for the latest details.
A small team of Umbracians who keep the meetup running, line up speakers, and make sure newcomers feel welcome.

The home of the Umbraco Kent Meetup is Dragon Coworking - a friendly co-working space tucked into St George's Hotel in Rochester, with good transport links and free parking. Hybrid evenings are both in-person and online so members from further afield can join; on alternate months we run online evenings.
